Stained Glass Window

OUR STAINED GLASS WINDOW

What is it? What should I be seeing? If you’ve had these or similar questions – you are in good company.  For these kinds of questions are often thought and occasionally verbalized by those seeing the window at the front of the sanctuary.

Our intent was to have a window that could be different things to different people as well as one that would unfold new meanings to each viewer with the passing of time.  The luminous glass acts as a bridge, a transition that leads the observer from physical reality into realms of the spiritual.

The window was designed around the theme of the Second Coming of Christ and is entitled “The Appearing”.  This artistic creation was designed and crafted by Arlyn Moots and donated in memory of John W. Marsh, I.

One of the energies associated with the Second Coming will be “light”.  Throughout the Bible we find Jesus associated with light.  Here are some of the “light” aspects one might visualize in the shapes and colors of the window:

  • Creation – the Scriptures tell us that Christ was active in the beginning and there was light.  Genesis 1:3, John 1:1-5
  • Incarnation – at a time when the deception of sin had reached its peak, Jesus came as a baby to this world – light dispelling the darkness.  Matthew 1:21, Galatians 4:4
  • Salvation – when an individual accepts Jesus, the true Light, the Light of the world, as their personal Savior – one’s innermost being is illuminated.  John 1:9, John 8:12.
  • Second Coming – at the return of Jesus – there will be brilliant light beyond belief!  1 Thessalonians 4:16, Revelation 19:11-16
